Helen Karol’s first title with Stormy Night, The Rancher’s Woman, has been dominating the Western Erotica category on Amazon, where it has held the top spot for most of the past week. It has also reached as high as #5 in the BDSM Erotica category! Congratulations, Helen!

Hope Junction, the name gives you the feeling of home, hearth, and family. To a point you are correct but it also gives you men……… handsome dominant ranchers who believe in spare the rod and spoil the wife. At times reading this sizzling book you feel like you are back in the 1800’s where men were men and woman were thrown over their man’s shoulder headed to the wood shed or bed depending on the crime and the punishment coming to said woman!
Chance Williams, educated rancher and part time fireman, who believes that woman should be cared for, protected, and cherished till death do us part, falls into instant attraction with the new tenant of his rental property. He lives by the old adage “women are the fairer sex” and that they need a strong hand to make sure that they stay safe, and perhaps to also add a little hot spice to their sex lives.
Enter Tessa Anderson independent woman escaping the tight reigns of her family and her corporate job by coming to Hope Junction to start her own small nursery business. Tessa is not your normal novel lady. Tessa is real, Helen has done a marvelous job with the creation of her woman in this book. No Barbie doll figures for Helen’s girls, they are full figured, intelligent, independent, feisty woman who give as good as they get from any “Neanderthal” that comes from Hope Junction.
We have a mystery surrounding Tessa that gives the story a three dimensional appeal. It’s not just about BDSM, sex and spanking. It’s about the Williams family, specifically Tessa and Chance and how they develop a relationship based on trust, respect, and good old honesty. The discipline is hardcore, I will not fool you. The man knows how to deliver a good spanking and how to get the results he wants from it. But Tessa is definitely a participant, and a willing one at that. The issue is more will his hardcore use of discipline push Tessa away from him, or will it make her realize that what she has with Chance could last a life time if she is willing to admit to wanting the life Chance is offering….. discipline and all.
Excellent story. Wonderful characters. Must read.

Tessa has recently moved to the town of Hope Junction, Wyoming to start a new life and a new business. She immediately gets the attention of her landlord, rancher and volunteer fireman, Chance Williams. Following a small fire at her home, Chance decides it is up to him to step in to the role of Tessa’s caretaker. At first horrified by the thought of being taken care of by a strong, alpha male, Tessa quickly finds that it definitely has its benefits.
Just like all of Helen Karol’s novels, this story is well written and well edited. The characters are all really well developed. Sometimes with this genre the characters are almost caricatures, with greatly exaggerated behaviors. That isn’t the case with this novel, each character is believable and their reactions to various situations are what you would expect from real people.
This novel falls in to the domestic discipline genre. Typical of this genre the punishments start out somewhat light and build in intensity. The final punishment sequence is one of the hottest punishment scenes that I have read. That being said it is also one of the one more intense punishment scenes that I have read in the domestic discipline genre. The use of anal punishment was particularly intense and may not appeal to all readers.
The story of Chance and Tessa wraps up nicely in this stand alone novel. The author does leave some pretty big loose ends to be tied up in a spin off novel. I am looking forward to continuing this story with Janey and Wes.

Helen Karol does it again! I LOVED Chance and Tessa and didn’t want their story to end! Helen really knows how to write an Alpha male and her books keep me hooked from start to finish. She’s an auto-buy for me for sure.
