This is one of my favorite time periods to escape to…and in one of my favorite cities as well! Yet Katie Douglas manages to make me fall in love with the city and the era even more so – well done! The Roaring 20s in Edinburgh come to life in this tight, well-written erotic romance. I loved how Adeline, both with Edward’s help and on her own, learns to work through her trauma from the Great War.
It was so enjoyable and fulfilling to watch Adeline and Edward spar and dance around and toward each other – the proverbial feisty handful and the stern Scotsman. And if you’re a fan of a good tawse, then this is the book for you! Pick up a copy and enjoy!

Wow katie has done it again. She has written a book that grabs you right from the get go. There is no slacking off when it comes to katies writing, you just want to keep reading.
This book starts off with Edward at the train station waiting patiently for Adeline. Her father has asked if he could reform her as her behaviour is well and truely out of line. Meanwhile Adeline gets off at one station before hoping to evade Edward. As she wants to live her own live the way she wants to, not have parents or anyone else interfer. Within 5 minutes of Edward finding her and getting her home she is well and truely deserving of a though spanking. Adeline is so determind but so is Edward.
I have rated this book a 5 star, as at no stage of this story do you think about leaving it for another it. You just want to keep on reading and reading to see what Adeline gets up to.

I have not read many books in this time period- how unique- “the roaring twenties.” I loved how Ms. Douglas weaved together the trauma of the decade from the Great War with the trauma of these characters, Adeline and Edward. Adeline’s losses caused her to go off the rails and refuse to be vulnerable. So when she was sent by her family to old family friend, Edward, to be reformed, while she was attracted to him, she fought it. Edward was stern, and quite honestly I didn’t always understand his behavior. Wow, I loved Adeline! This was a Katie Douglas book so you know it was sexy! But it was also interesting, angsty, witty, and romantic. Five big stars!! I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing this book.
